Colleagues,
I would like to give you an update on the Voluntary Severance (VS) scheme which was launched earlier this month. We have received over 40 applications to date which have all been accompanied with clear rationale and well-constructed business cases.
The applications received cover all faculties, both academic and non-academic staff, and a smaller number from professional services.
The first VS panel met on Monday 27 April and a high proportion of the applications were approved. I did say initially that the money available would allow us to approve around 30 applications but if there are further applications which would help us progress with the University’s vision we would want to consider them.
I am aware that there are still staff who are keen to apply for VS and I would strongly encourage anyone who is interested to submit an application as soon as possible. The VS panel will continue to meet on a weekly basis.
Our desire is to run a progressive and ambitious University with people committed to Strategy 2020 and if we need to allocate a bit more to the budget to do this we may be able to do so.
