UPDATE: 23/1/2018 at 1700hrs

Following a number of incidents involving significant unauthorised parking on University property, I have agreed with Edinburgh College that the inter-campus barrier at Sighthill will remain closed in the mornings. It will still be opened from 4pm to 7pm Monday to Friday to facilitate efficient egress for both University and College staff at the end of the business day.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause to your morning commute, but this action is necessary to ensure that as much parking as possible is available to University permit holders.

Dear all

Firstly, can I apologise to University permit holders if you had problems parking on the Sighthill Campus today. Edinburgh College are hosting an event and we seem to have experienced a lot of fly parking this morning as the barrier between the University and the College has failed in the upright position. Our parking enforcement contractor, UKPC, has been called to site and all unauthorised parked cars will be ticketed. Our engineers will also be working today to lower the barrier to prevent this happening again.

Rest assured that no University permit holders will be ticketed today, provided that vehicles are parked safely and not on double yellow lines. Restrictions on disabled parking bays also remain in force.
