Title
Teaching Data Collection for 2024/25 Trimester 1 Timetables

Description

Your support with the timetabling process is essential and adherence to all the deadlines will be important to ensure we issue individual timetables to students in sufficient time for them to plan their lives ahead of trimester 1 commencing. This will take another team effort across our University community. We are committed to optimising our student timetables and this is why we collect accurate teaching requirements in advance of each trimester.

Please ensure you submit your Trimester 1 teaching requirements as early as possible and by no later than 5pm on Friday 3 May 2024.

Timetabling Requirements – Module Picker
The data collection form will be available from Monday 8 April 2024 for you to submit your teaching requests for trimester 1 at the following URL: ModulePicker (napier.ac.uk).

Following your feedback, we have made enhancements to Module Picker. More information and updated guidance is available on the staff intranet at Timetabling (napier.ac.uk). Please take time to read through this information and if you're unclear on the requirements, please speak with your local timetabling administrator who will be happy to assist you.

Alongside student experience, we are currently focused on improving space utilisation for all teaching spaces as part of Project Vision. To aid optimisation, please ensure you submit accurate teaching requests including your best forecasts of expected module student numbers. To complement this, we are also working with IOSR colleagues to triangulate the student forecast numbers at both Programme and Module level.

Timetabling Requirements – Staff Availability
Most academic colleagues do not need to submit a Staff Availability request. For those that do, these must be submitted each trimester so that we can ensure we timetable with accurate and up-to-date information (for this reason previous availability data cannot be used). More information about the Staff Availability process can be found at Staff Availability (napier.ac.uk).

The timetabling team will make every effort during the scheduling process to optimise the timetable, ensuing we produce as coherent (blocked) timetables as possible for all students, with a focus on first and final year. This will include seeking to reduce the number of days our students normally need to travel to campus.

We anticipate the draft module timetable being available for the review from the week commencing 17 June 2024.
