Kate Simpson from our School of Arts & Creative Industries helped a transatlantic team recover Dr David Livingstone’s 1871 field diary using spectral imaging. This has provided an insight into Henry M Stanley’s report of the massacre in the world press that would prompt the British government to close the East African slave trade, and secure Livingstone’s place in history.
Kate was awarded a grant by the Arts & Humanities Research Council to create an image gallery about this incredible project.
