Title
Congratulations to our Saltire Summit Award Winner!

Summary
Winner from Business School for outstanding youth volunteering

Full Story

Nominations for the Saltire Summit Awards closed in March, and with only 12 being awarded in Edinburgh a year, they are a highly valued addition to any CV.

This Scottish Government endorsed certificate recognises the outstanding volunteering that is happening locally. Young people are nominated for the award and the submissions are reviewed and discussed by the Saltire Ambassadors, a committed group of young people who ultimately decide the winner.

We are delighted to announce that Fraser Payne, a student of the  Business School, has been awarded the Saltire Summit Award for his outstanding youth volunteering. His activities include being an NSA School Rep Student Executive member, President of the University EuroTalk society, various research and ambassadorship roles in the University and more broadly in the local community. There will be an awards evening later in the month where Fraser will receive his award from the Lord Provost of Edinburgh.

The Saltire Awards are a great Scottish Government endorsed scheme that recognises the volunteering of young people aged 12-25. Volunteers log their hours, name a supervisor and request a certificate through the website as they hit targets between 10 and 500 hours.

Fraser is now working on achieving his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award through Napier Students’ Association and VBase, both new services available to Edinburgh Napier students.

Volunteers, like Fraser, now also use the VBase Volunteering Service to reflect on and embed the skills they have developed through their volunteering in CVs, Job Applications and Interview practice. For more information you can visit the Napier Volunteering section of VBase or use this handy How To Use VBase guide for more information on registration.
