Since 2012 Hazel has played a significant role and involvement with Research Councils UK's Digital Economy Theme Programme and has now been appointed as Chair of its Advisory Board.
The UK Digital Economy Theme Programme supports research to help realise the transformational impact of digital technologies on aspects of community life, cultural experiences, future society, and the economy. The aims of the programme are to help build UK research capacity and expertise in order to create and take advantage of opportunities that arise from the digital economy.
The programme also aims to promote user engagement throughout its activities and to deliver high quality research, people and thought leadership.
As chair, Hazel will help ensure that the Board continues to provide guidance on the direction of the research and to ensure balance of the Theme. The Programme Advisory Board has a broad remit which also includes monitoring the progress of the research, advising on training and recommending the need for further exploration or investigation by the Research Councils UK's Digital Economy Theme Programme.
Hazel said: “I am looking forward to working with the other members of the Programme Advisory Board which is made up of a range of academics and industry specialists with interests and expertise in supporting the work of UK Digital Economy research”.
