Title
myTimetable Project: update & how you can help

Description

Hello everyone

I am pleased to advise that I am now the project lead for the myTimetable project and would like to provide an update on progress, while highlighting ways in which you can assist with this important project.

PROJECT UPDATE

The myTimetable project aims to enhance the student experience by introducing individual student timetables for the 2017/18 academic year.  Our key deliverables are to:

• Introduce individual timetables that are personal to the student and include both compulsory and optional modules and all teaching activities (e.g. lectures, tutorials, workshops etc.)

• Improve the process for notifying of timetable changes.

• Enable timetable information to be more easily accessible through standard electronic devices.

Project teams from across the university have been working in the following areas:

• Reviewing timetabling business processes

• Data cleansing in SITS and Syllabus+ to ensure the information held is accurate

• Upgrading our timetabling software for integration with SITS.

• Engaging Scientia, the market leader in higher education timetabling

To learn more about the project please visit the myTimetable intranet site.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We have always had academic voice on the Project Board and we are now at the stage where it would be helpful to get closer liaison with academic staff who are required to engage with our timetabling processes, such as module leaders and programme leaders.  If you’d like to help by contributing ideas and feedback on new processes as part of a liaison group please contact the Project Manager, Suzanne Shinnie.

Over the next few months colleagues from the School Support Service will be in touch with relevant academic staff to gather timetabling data for Trimester 1. Given the nature of the changes, this project will require more work than previous years to ensure we have all of the information we need, when we need it and in the format required to deliver individual timetables. The project team recognizes everyone is very busy so we’ll endeavour to ensure requests are well coordinated and kept to a minimum, with information provided for checking wherever this is possible.

Your support and co-operation is much appreciated.

Dr Steven Logie
Director of School Support Service & Academic Registrar
