Title
School of Computing team to sleep out for charity

Description

A team from the School of Computing is joining more than 100 influential figures in Edinburgh’s dynamic IT sector sleeping out in Charlotte Square on 6 October to raise funds for Action for Children.

Professor Ben Paechter has experience of surviving low temperatures having once spent a night trapped on the edge of a cliff in complete darkness with the woman who he later married.

Sally Smith, Dean of Computing, will be flying the flag for Edinburgh Napier University with our branded hoodies which will be worn outside her arctic parka.

Adrian Smales, PhD student and researcher in the school, is the official Byte Night photographer.

Byte Night began in 1998 when 30 individuals slept out in London and raised £35,000. Since then Byte Night has grown to 10 UK locations and over 1200 people slept out in 2016. Byte Night is the largest charity sleep-out having raised over £9.6 million since the first event.

The team have a target of £1,500. If you’d like to know more or make a donation, please visit: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/byte-night-sally-smith.
