I am delighted to let you know that the 2017 Above and Beyond nomination process is now open!We launched the Above and Beyond recognition scheme in January this year and we held our first awards night on the 16th March.
The night recognised individuals who had achieved 25 years of service in 2016, individuals who had been promoted throughout 2016 as well as recognising some of the individuals who had achieved HEA accreditation. We also announced the very first winners of our Above and Beyond awards which were in part based around our University values. Last year’s winners can be found on the
Above and Beyond intranet page.
The last nomination process received 118 colleague nominations over six award categories, however this year we are increasing the categories to eight to ensure we capture even more great examples of individuals and teams going Above and Beyond in their approach to work and in their contribution to the University.
The eight award categories in which nomination can be made are:
• Professional Award • Ambitious Award • Innovative Award • Inclusive Award • Outstanding Student Experience Award• Leadership Excellence Award• Partnership Award • The University Award for Enterprise The purpose of the awards is to recognise people for going Above and Beyond in a particular category, the criteria for each category can be found on the Above and Beyond intranet page. Anyone working for Edinburgh Napier can be nominated for an award.
It is really easy to nominate your colleagues for an award:
Step 1. Download the nomination form from the
Above and Beyond intranet page.
Step 2. Specify who you are nominating, for which award and why. All nominations should include specific examples of achievements and contributions in conjunction with the award category. The rationale for the nomination should be completed in 750 words or less, so it is important to be succinct, while also ensuring the judging panel will be able to understand the great work that the nominee has either carried our been involved with.
Step 3. Email your nomination to the Above and Beyond inbox (
aboveandbeyond@napier.ac.uk)
Nominations are open until Friday 15th December. All nomination will be reviewed by an independent panel comprising of academics and professional services staff. They will short list the nominations as well as deciding an overall winner for each category.
Above and Beyond Awards and Recognition EveningAn evening event will be held on Thursday 01 March 2018 to celebrate the winners of the awards in addition to recognising the contribution of others, including long service, promotions and HEA fellowships. The short listed nominees for each award will be invited to the event, where the winners will be announced. This year we will also be recognising those individuals who were awarded Research Excellence Awards in 2017. New recipients of the awards will be announced at the next Research Conference.
