Teaching Fellow

School of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Care

Fiona-Jean is Programme Leader for the Adult Undergraduate Programme in Nursing. A registered nurse with an intensive care focus, she moved on to become a Clinical Nurse Teacher and then Nurse Teacher specialising in postgraduate intensive care and high dependency. Fiona-Jean transferred to Edinburgh Napier from South Lothian College of Nursing and Midwifery when schools of nursing became integrated into HEI. For the past seven years, she has shifted her focus into the Undergraduate Programme and has moved from module to cohort and then Programme Leader roles, always retaining a keen interest in the student and their learning needs.

Fiona-Jean's interests are wide and range from conceptualisation of the programme to reduce the theory/practice gap, to curriculum development in response to shifting dimensions of health care services. Recent and current project work includes aspects of work-based learning, the National Framework for Practice Assessment, involvement in the piloting of a community consolidation experience for pre-registration nurses and the support of HNC students following articulation.
