 To scan using an MFD:

 
  • If a green light is displayed on the MFD it's in energy saving mode so you'll need to click on the green Power Save button:

  • Scan your staff ID card or log in to the MFD using your University login ID and password.
  • Press the Workflow Scanning button:
              MFD scan image
  • Choose where you want to scan to: you can either email the scanned file to yourself, scan the file to your H drive or scan the file to a USB device - please note, you may be prompted to enter your University password.

  • Choose the other options as required.
  • Click on the green Start button:

 Remember to log out!

  • Click on the key button.
  • Choose Log Out.

Q: What is a Multi-Functional Device?

A:  A Multi-Functional Device (MFD) refers to a device that can print, copy and scan. The Xerox MFD’s that are being installed will also facilitate document enlargement and reduction, duplex printing, stapling, scanning to email and scanning to USB.

 

Q: What if I don't have a University ID card or I've forgotten my card?
A:  You can also log in to the MFD using your University login ID and password.

 

Q: Where will the MFDs be located?
A:
An MFD device will be located within a short distance of everyone’s work space. The full list of locations can be found in the MFD Locations Spreadsheet. MFD

Q: Can I scan multiple single documents at one time?

A:  Yes, you can select whether your documents should be compiled into a single document or into separate documents on the MFD. 

 

Q: Can I email my scan to more than one person?

A:  Yes, you can add as many recipients as you like when you scan to email.

 

Q: Can I scan to email external email addresses?

A:  Yes, you'll have the option to enter the relevant external email address(es).

 

Q:  Why is my scan of poor quality?

A:  The scan resolution is set at the lowest level to minimise the size of attachments in email.  If you need better quality resolution then select the higher resolution options

 

Q:  My scanning failed with a path not found error?
A:  This means that you did not authenticate properly at the login prompt. Try logging in again.

 

Q: How do I order paper for the new MFDs?

A: If paper is required the individual super users or print champions should follow the MFD Paper Ordering procedure.
