Starter for Ten: your introduction to learning, teaching and assessment in higher education
Edinburgh Napier University welcomes new academic members of staff to the University via its Starter for Ten: your introduction to learning, teaching and assessment in higher education programme. Designed for new academic members of staff who have less than three years' full-time teaching experience in higher education within a UK setting, it provides an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of what is involved in learning, teaching, assessment and student support at higher education level. It is also a chance to meet others new to their roles, and to exchange thoughts and ideas about the challenges ahead.
The programme is highly participative and delegates are encouraged to contribute their ideas and experiences throughout. Reflection on everyday practice is another key element. There is also lots of opportunity to meet and mingle with colleagues from across the University.
'Starter for Ten' takes place over one or two days, off campus. It is a two-part event, usually with 6-9 months between each part.
