In addition to the development of an Environmental Management System and participation in externally verified assessment programmes such as the Carbon Trust Water Standard, the University provides environmental information to a wide range of external stakeholders on an ongoing annual basis, including People & Planet and their annual University League (previously known as Green League).
The League is essentially an assessment, covering 100 questions within thirteen topic areas. The assessment leads to a score for each participating institution. Within the 2014/15 and 2016/17 League assessments (ther was a gap in 2015/16), Edinburgh Napier gained a First Class Award.
For more information on our score, please visit the People & Planet website. For more information on our work at Edinburgh Napier within the thirteen assessment areas please access our information through the following hyperlinks: environmental policy; environmental staff; auditing and environmental management systems; ethical investment; carbon management; workers rights; sustainable food; engagement; education; energy sources; waste and recycling; carbon reduction and water reduction.
There was some controversy surrounding the 2014/15 League. Edinburgh Napier was one of 82 universities to complete a full information return. 69 universities abstained. Read the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) response on their website. People & Planet have committed to work with the EAUC and other professional bodies to investigate the further development of the League.
For more information on the League or any other aspect of environmental development at Edinburgh Napier please visit each section of our intranet, following the options on the left hand side or contact Jamie Pearson.
