Go directly to the Professional Development Calendar of EventsAcademic Professional Development aims to facilitate the enhancement of academic practice, to promote innovation in academic provision and to underpin researcher development through the academic professional development programme of events, the academic induction programme and annual staff conferences.

 

The team also offers tailored development and support to meet the particular needs and priorities of faculties, schools and particular academic roles. We also showcase, celebrate and facilitate the sharing of good practice across the University.

 

Academic Professional Development also champions technology-enhanced learning and supports staff in their use. We are also engaged in a number of developmental projects including Programme Leading.

The University’s approach to professional development has received institutional recognition from the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA).

 

The Enhancement-led Institutional Review (QAA) report of 2011 commended the "University's approach to the initial and continuing development of staff in relation to the promotion of effective learning as a strength".
