Flexible working

 

The University is committed to ensuring we have a flexible and motivated workforce to deliver the University's strategic plan. This policy provides all employees who meet the eligibilty criteria with the right to request to work flexibly including:

 

  • Staff who have parental responsibility for children under the age of 6 or disabled children under the age of 18 and therefore have statutory rights to request to work flexibly.
  • Those employees who are carers of adults and foster parents and who wish to work flexibly to look after their relative and therefore have statutory rights to request to work flexibly. 
  • Those employees who do not have statutory rights but who wish to make a request to work flexibly.

It does not give the employee the automatic right to flexible working but is aimed at facilitating the discussion. The University has a duty to consider all applications seriously.
