International
Internationalising our activities is one of the University's core strategic objectives and the International Team within IDEA support and facilitate this.
Around 29% of our total student body are international students coming from over 110 countries. Our largest numbers currently come from Ireland, China, France, India, Poland and Germany. We also have around 3000 students taught overseas.
More information on our international activities can be found in the University's corescripts.
Our activities
With growing numbers of international students on campus, the International Team undertakes overseas recruitment and ensures that the development of new overseas markets and partnerships are explored. We work closely with Faculties and departments, national and international organisations such as the British Council, and agents within countries, agencies and embassies.
We can provide assistance and contacts to staff on recruitment and trips abroad and arrange incoming visits. We also provide advice on international applications and admissions e.g. qualifications required, and other issues concerning international students on campus.
Note that Student & Academic Services manage the international student process post-application and EU recruitment.
Overseas Programme Delivery Unit
Edinburgh Napier currently has around 3000 students studying on courses delivered overseas. These courses are delivered through collaborative partnerships with well-established and prestigious institutions such as the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) at City University of Hong Kong, and the School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) at Hong Kong University. In India the University delivers an undergraduate programme in collaboration with the Institute of Advanced Management in Kolkata in Goa. The University also offers a range of Business School and Faculty of Health, Life and Social Sciences courses in Singapore with our partners CSM Academy, Asia Global Business School and SHRI.
The Overseas Programme Delivery Unit is involved in the planning, setting up and the day to day delivery of these courses, usually over 3 trimesters.
The Unit currently offers support and advice, including financial advice, during the early stages of course proposals, scrutiny and validation, and regularly draws up the required collaborative agreements.
Once a course is approved and the collaborative agreement is in place, a dedicated Overseas Programme Administrator is assigned who is in daily contact with the Edinburgh Napier Programme Team and our collaborative partner to ensure that planning and problem solving issues are handled effectively, students are supported, and that the contract and course run as smoothly as possible.
During the run of each course, the unit helps to ensure that quality mechanisms are in place and that progress through each delivery is monitored and key documentation is held to assist auditing and review processes.
Finally, as successful students exit and receive their awards, the unit sets up and manages their overseas Graduation events and helps to make these very memorable occasions.
