Edward Clark Collection

The Edward Clark Collection consists of around 5,000 items illustrating the development of the book from the 15th century. More specifically, it concentrates on the development of typography, the techniques of printing illustrations, and fine bindings. The collection is located within the Campus Library at the University's Merchiston Campus.

Enquiries about the collection and exhibitions should be addressed to Marian Kirton, Information Services Advisor.

The University welcomes visits to the Collection from bona fide scholars. Access is by prior appointment through Merchiston Campus Library or by contacting Marian.

Catalogue Integration

The catalogue of the Collection is fully integrated into the Library Catalogue, so general searches will retrieve Edward Clark Collection items. It is also possible to limit your search to the Edward Clark Collection alone. To do this, use the drop-down menu to change the Collection to search box from Full Library Catalogue to Edward Clark Collection before you begin.

You can access a special index for the Edward Clark Collection if you change the Field to Search box to Genre (Edward Clark Collection)...begins with.  This allows you to browse the index for specialist items such as metal clasps, decorated papers, armorial bookplates etc.
