Careers support for students

What we do:

  • Provide careers information, advice and guidance to help students and graduates achieve their career goals.
  • Facilitate workshops (both on-programme and centrally) to help students identify career options, understand the labour market, assess their skills, find opportunities to develop their skills and experience and prepare for employment.
  • Offer 1:1 careers information advice and guidance sessions through Careers drop-ins, bookable appointments to help students and graduates individually.
  • Work collaboratively with the Employer Opportunities Team to provide opportunities for students and graduates to liaise with relevant employers and industry professionals.  This includes Employability Weeks for individual schools.
  • Co-ordinate assessment centres across the university to give our students the opportunity to experience this common graduate recruitment process.

What we can help students with:

  • Choosing a career and information about different career paths
  • Advising on postgraduate study
  • Making applications, including writing CVs and going to interviews

Workshops and Presentations:

Careers Advisers will work with you to support your students to embed employability within appropriate modules.  Our aim is to help students to make the most of opportunities available during their studies, and start to plan for their graduate career...

We offer a suite of workshops (open and integrated) including:

  • Finding Work Experience
  • Successful CVs and Covering Letters
  • Graduate Applications
  • LinkedIn
  • Psychometric Testing
  • Interview Skills
  • Practice Assessment Centres
  • We run “Get That Job!” – a one day boot camp on each campus during Trimester 3

One-to-one Careers Advice and Guidance:

We also offer 1:1 bookable appointments, and Careers drop-ins on all campuses which students can access via myNapier.

Additionally, we provide an e-guidance service via Ask Careers.
