Court Committees
The Court of Edinburgh Napier University is empowered to appoint standing committees and working parties which report back to it. Likewise, committees have the power to appoint sub committees and groups which report back to them.

- Planning, coordination, development and supervision of academic work
- Oversee admissions, teaching, exams, awards & external examiners
- Academic standards
- Propose links with industry, commerce, community, professions, universities and other educational and research bodies
- Develop, implement & review an Estates Strategy
- Monitor spend of capital funds
- Consider strategic environmental issues
- Appoint professional advisers
- Appoint and agree fees for external & internal auditors
- Review internal & external reports
- Review financial statements
- Commission business & audit risk assessments
- Consider procedures for securing value for money
- Manage matters of finance & property
- Recommend annual budget
- Review annual financial statements
- Review Management Accounts
- Make provision for pensions
- Monitor, review and report on commercialisation activities
- Oversee Commercialisation Sub-Panel
- Ensure development of appropriate health and safety policies
- Advise on potential health and safety hazards
- Ensure frequent observations of safety practices
- Develop, maintain & monitor implementation of HR Strategy
- Ensure effective structures of consultation with staff & unions
- Approve significant changes in conditions of service
- Advise on effective continuance & financial administration of the Students’ Association
- Assist in communication between Court and Students’ Association
- Appointment of members of Court
- Recommend Committee membership
- Recommend appointment of Chair & Vice Chair
- Recommend appointment of Principal, Vice Principals and University Secretary
- Salary, performance pay and terms and conditions of Principal, VPs and University Secretary
