​Research Funding Initiatives 2014/15

In the academic year 2014/15 there will be a strategic initiative fund, the Research Translation Innovation Fund (RTIF). This will be distributed by the VP (Academic) using a competitive and reward-based process to target specific strategic research initiatives which respond to the University’s vision and mission as most recently expressed in the strategic 2020 plan.  Outlined below are the competitions currently being rolled out.

Research Funding Competition – Early Career Researchers 2014/15

This scheme will solely be for Early Career Researchers and will be pump priming initiatives. These will be one-off, time-limited projects and could include Travel and subsistence and buy out / in of time. Applications where ECRs have pair up with more experienced researchers are welcomed.

Funding of up to £6-7K maximum will be available with applications for smaller amounts also being considered.

Timeline

October 2014: Competition opens for applications

24 November: deadline for applications

15 December: deadline for announcing awards

January - June: Award holders prepare and deliver their initiatives

15 July 2015: Deadline for completing initiatives (to allow for any payments to be paid by 31st July)

Post Initiative Reflective Report: Award holders must submit a report 8 weeks upon completing initiative.

Applications are now being accepted and the deadline is Monday 24 November 2014.

Researcher-Led Initiative Fund

Please note: This initiative is intended to develop your skills for career development and NOT designed for pump priming initiatives. 

Funding is available for initiatives which support personal, professional and career development for researchers.  Awards are intended to enable doctoral students and early career research staff to initiate, design, manage and deliver new professional development activities for their peers which will in turn develop the skills and experience needed to progress their own careers.

Summer Internships 2015

The Summer Internships 2015 initiative will be rolled in a similar way as to the 2014 Summer Internships - further details to follow in November 2014.
