Title
Last chance to apply for 2018/19’s Continuous Improvement Programme

Description

Now in its fourth year, the University’s Continuous Improvement Programme looks to spread skills and knowledge, develop positive behaviours and have an impact on cultural change through supporting a group of staff who want to make change happen.

The main focus of the programme is a year of monthly mentoring and action learning sets, supporting staff in actively making a difference to the University, while learning from each other’s perspectives and experiences.

You’ll find all you need to know about the programme here.

Prior experience of Continuous Improvement activity will be an advantage, but is NOT essential. We’re looking for staff who:

  • Have a positive, open and creative attitude
  • Are enthusiastic about delivering practical benefits to both their area and institutionally
  • Demonstrate reflective practice
  • Are prepared to experiment beyond what is currently done
  • Are supported by their manager to spend significant time on improvement activity

Staff at all levels from all departments across the university are encouraged to take part in the programme.

Interested? Apply here – but be quick, as applications for this year’s programme close on Monday, 30 July.

Any questions? Contact Steve or Laurna via learninganddevelopment@napier.ac.uk.

Here’s what two previous participants had to say about the programme:

Louise McClure, Head of Visa and International Support
If I’m being honest, I did think “another boring training course”. I couldn’t have been more wrong. You learn about how to work in a better, cleaner and more efficient way. If you have that mind-set from the start, you’ll gain so much from the programme. It’s a confidential and safe space to share experiences, ask for advice, learn from each other, challenge each other and best of all work with colleagues across other teams.

Paola Renucci, Head of Admissions
I thought it would be mainly be about identifying conventional working processes that I could adapt and apply to my own work area. What unfolded was a lot better. We discussed real life positive and negative experiences that often occur in the work place. The sessions provided a great opportunity to openly but confidentially chat about particular situations you may have to deal with to either improve team work, or develop processes on a daily basis, or general workplace situations.

The facilitators introduce theory and practical exercises to aid the collective thinking and activity process, which helps enormously when sharing existing and new ideas – very refreshing! It broadens how you think, manage and apply techniques, no matter what role you have in the university.
