Title
Module touchpoint survey now available

Description

We use a range of mechanisms to capture student feedback on their experience at Edinburgh Napier, helping us understand what we do well and what we need to improve on.

As part of this process, we’ve introduced a short Moodle ‘touchpoint’ survey for all face-to-face undergraduate modules.

Who should be surveyed – and when?
  • All undergraduate on campus modules should be surveyed mid module
  • Other module leaders may also run the survey through Moodle if they wish

How does it work?
  • A short questionnaire is available – this has been uploaded to Moodle
  • The touchpoint survey should be run during week 5 or week 6 of Trimester 1 2018/19
  • A short step-by-step instruction video is available here, showing how to add the survey into Moodle, as well as a clip showing how to analyse the results

What do we ask?
There are five questions – three scaled questions (Definitely Agree to Definitely Disagree)…

  • So far the module has been well organised and is running smoothly
  • The content of the module so far has been relevant and useful
  • Overall, I am satisfied with the module at this point

… and two open ended questions:

  • What have you enjoyed on the module so far?
  • Is there any aspect of this module which you think could be further developed (i.e. teaching, module materials, organisation, feedback etc.)

What happens with the results?
  • The results of the survey will be available to view through Moodle. Only the module leader and any colleague with Teacher access will be able to see the touchpoint survey results and should use the results to enhance the student experience
  • The survey results will allow early identification of student concerns and allow appropriate action to be taken

If you already capture feedback from your students mid-module, you can choose to continue with your current practice. However, we strongly recommend all staff seek student feedback in some way through an appropriate mechanism.
