Title
Sir Nicholas Stadlen Masterclass – 13 February

Description

Glasgow Caledonian University are holding a Masterclass and film-screening evening event with Sir Nicholas Stadlen, former High Court Judge in England & Wales and distinguished Queen’s Counsel.

Sir Nicholas Stadlen’s Masterclass will be followed by a screening of his directed documentary “Life is Wonderful” before finishing with a Q&A in GCU’s Deeprose Theatre.

“Life is Wonderful” follows the surviving defendants and lawyers of the Rivonia Trial as they recount the apartheid-era court case that resulted in life-imprisonment for eight struggle heroes. The Rivonia Trial in 1964 led to the imprisonment of Nelson Mandela and others.

Featuring the three surviving Rivonia defendants, the documentary relives their experiences of the trial and participation in the struggle both before and after the judge handed down their life sentences.

The film also focuses on the three surviving members of the legendary Bram Fischer-led defence team. This very special evening offers you the chance to come and share in a discussion and film-screening of these lives, where the remaining unsung heroes recount the trial first-hand.

When: Wednesday, 13 February – 5pm registration for 5.30pm start
Where: Deeprose Lecture Theatre, Govan Mbeki Building, Glasgow Caledonian University, 70 Cowcaddens Road, Glasgow, G4 0BA
Cost: Free

The event and film screening will conclude by 7:30pm and will be followed by drinks and networking.
