Information Services is working to upgrade all University PCs to Windows 10 from Windows 7.
You’ll have noticed that most computer suites, library PCs and classroom laboratories are already on Windows 10.
Windows 10 offers many benefits, including quicker start up times, smoother integration with Office 365, and shorter lead times to the most up to date software and applications.
Why is this upgrade required?
What is required from me?
Colleagues are asked to request to have their PC re-imaged as soon as possible, but no later than 30 November 2019.
It’s important that the request comes from the user in order to ensure that any personal data, settings and applications are captured during the process. Submitting a request yourself also allows you to be in more control of when the changeover happens, minimising inconvenience for you.
The Audio Visual and Learning Spaces technicians will receive your request and contact you to arrange a time to come to you to re-image your machine.
The team will respond to these requests on a first come, first served basis. This may mean that it will take them some time to contact you. All requests will be actioned as soon as they can. If you do have concerns or would like further information, email the Windows 10 Project Team.
How do I know if I need to
upgrade to Windows 10?
When logging on to your machine,
if you are asked to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to login, you are NOT on Windows
10 and need to have your machine re-imaged.
If you simply press any key to
enter your login details, you do not need to take any action.
