Further to the recent announcement about changes to student printing for 2019/20, the multi-function devices (MFDs) in staff areas at Craiglockhart and Sighthill will be replaced with faster and more intuitive new models w/c 30 September.
There will be a further roll out of new devices to Merchiston next summer. The split roll out is part of our contractual agreement with Xerox.
The replacement of each device will take around an hour. During this time, you can use the ‘Follow Me’ print facility to release a print job at any MFD while your local MFD is out of service.
There are minimal changes to the operation of the devices for printing and copying. Use your Staff card to swipe the card reader to log in and out of the MFDs.
Scanning
There is one change to be aware of when scanning to your H drive from an MFD – you need to add ‘@napier.ac.uk’ to your username when logging in. Keyboard shortcuts to do this have been added to the MFD interface while the underlying issue is being investigated by Xerox and IS staff. Scanning to email is unaffected by this issue.
