A quick reminder that our summer 2020 graduation ceremonies in Edinburgh’s Usher Hall have been postponed due to the impact of the coronavirus.

Graduation ceremonies are the highlight of our academic year but we have taken this difficult decision for the safety of our students and staff.

Students due to graduate this summer will register to graduate in absentia, and will be given the opportunity to return, if they wish, to attend our autumn graduations and celebrate with family and friends.

A communication similar to this one was sent to students advising them of the situation, followed by an email advising how to apply to graduate in absentia in due course.

We know that this will come as very disappointing news but hope that you understand that this decision could not be avoided. This is in line with the current position of the UK Government to postpone all large gatherings and consistent with other universities around the country.

Our approach means if they are due to graduate, they will still have the award conferred in the summer, and given the opportunity to celebrate their successes with fellow students, staff and loved ones, on a future date.

We know both students and staff have put in a tremendous amount of work and effort to complete these qualifications, so be assured that everyone will still have the opportunity to celebrate once these difficult times are behind us.
