Title
Library and IT Services update - 24/7 opening and the return of library helpdesks

Description

Following easing of restrictions by the Scottish Government, many library and IT services will be available again as spaces are open for longer and colleagues return to our helpdesks.

Available now

  • The JKCC helpdesk is open, with staff available from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
  • Library and JKCC opening hours will be extended to include evening and 24/7 access. Craiglockhart and Sighthill Libraries will be open until 9pm. See our library opening hours and Computers on Campus for more details
  • Study rooms in libraries will reopen and be available for booking using Resource Booker. Unfortunately, you still won’t be able to work together in groups – guidelines state users will be expected to observe two-metre social distancing

From 26 April

  • Library books will be available to browse. Where possible, you should still use Click and Collect to request books in advance
  • All library helpdesks will reopen, with staff available from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

All other arrangements for your health and safety will continue as outlined here, including:

  • Book a study space in advance using Resource Booker
  • Wear a face covering at all times while you are in our libraries and computer suites – with the exception of those who are exempt
  • Books will be quarantined for 72 hours between users

To support all users at this busy time, there will still be no recall of library books, and auto-renewals for all items, including laptops, will continue until after exams have finished.

We’ll continue to update the central Library Services and Covid-19 webpage with the latest information following any government changes, so please check this before you plan a visit.
