Our
annual Bright Red Sparks awards showcase innovative products and services
developed by start-ups, spinouts, fledging companies and entrepreneurs.
Normally,
the winners are announced at an elaborate and exciting awards ceremony at The
Balmoral Hotel. Unfortunately, this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the
face-to-face awards ceremony was cancelled. But the show must go on…
The
awards, an initiative of Edinburgh Napier’s Bright Red Triangle enterprise hub,
have moved online this year as a Facebook Live event, beginning at 7pm this
evening, via the Bright Red Triangle Facebook page. You don’t need to
register - just logon, sit back, relax, and watch the ceremony unfold. You can
even stay in your pyjamas!
Trailblazing
students, colleagues and alumni from across the University community will
compete for more than £10,000 in prizes, with food, clothing, cleaning and
media businesses among a wide range of projects hoping to impress the judges.
The
main event will, of course, be followed by an after-party, where you’ll get the
chance to have a drink with the finalists, judges, sponsors, and innovative and
enterprising members of our Edinburgh Napier community. You will need to
sign-up on Eventbrite
here, so you can be sent the Zoom joining link in advance. Don’t worry, you
can join and just listen in if that’s what you prefer too. Everyone is welcome.
The
19 shortlisted enterprises across six categories will be assessed for
everything from the viability of their ideas and clarity of planning to
thoroughness of research and potential for growth.
The
2020 shortlist was drawn up after scrutiny of the entrants’ online application
