The
University is saddened to hear of the passing of producer, publisher, champion
of the counter-culture and friend of Edinburgh Napier, Jim Haynes.
Jim
was a cultural icon and played a major role in the theatre and literary life of
Edinburgh, London and Paris. During his time in Edinburgh, he co-founded the Traverse
Theatre and was a driving force during the early days of the Edinburgh Fringe
Festival.
Jim
was awarded an honorary degree from Edinburgh Napier in 2018 and we are very
proud to be the permanent home to the Jim
Haynes Living Archives.
Our
thoughts are with Jim’s family and many friends at this difficult time.
