It's National Inclusion Week, a week dedicated to raising awareness of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. From Monday 25 September until Sunday 1 October, we're joining organisations throughout the UK as they 'Take Action Make Impact'. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the diversity amongst our colleagues and students, and to promote and recognise all our staff networks !
During the week we will explore the challenges around different inclusion themes and promote resources and support available to everyone at Edinburgh Napier University.
You can expect a range of different events happening across our campuses and online:

An estimated 44% of the Scottish workforce balances an unpaid caring role for a family member or friend alongside their employment. Edinburgh Carers Network is partnering with VOCAL to help you as an line manager to identify and support working carers in your organisation to remain in employment. This session aims to make carers more visible in the workplace and help managers reflect on the hidden impacts of caring and how they can support team members who are working carers.

We'd also like to highlight that National Inclusion Week, this year, takes place during two Jewish events – Yom Kippur and Sukkot. Yom Kippur begins at sundown on Sunday 24 September and is the day of atonement, where many Jews will be fasting for 25 hours and attending Synagogue services all day. On Friday 29 September, the Jewish festival of Sukkot begins, which is a joyous occasion! The festival of Sukkot is an autumnal harvest festival and commemorates the wandering in the desert by the Israelites for 40 years before reaching the Ancient Land of Israel. Sukkot observances vary, but some colleagues may be building a 'Sukkah' in their garden, eating ceremonial foods and attending Synagogue services.
