World Mental Health Day, observed on 10 October, is an international day aimed at raising awareness about mental health issues and promoting mental well-being around the world. It offers an opportunity to address the stigma surrounding mental health, advocate for access to mental health services, and recognise the importance of self-care and community support. The theme for 2024 is “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right," emphasising the need for mental health care for all. This day encourages individuals, organisations, and governments to join forces to create a world where mental health is a priority for everyone.
At Edinburgh Napier University we will recognise the day on Wednesday 9 October with a Wellbeing Afternoon hosted at our Merchiston Campus as we welcome internal and external stakeholders onto campus to promote their resources and services to our colleague and student community, highlighting that there is support available for all in different forms.
As well as our own internal services represented including SafeZone, ENSA Advice, Mental Health Champions, Student Wellbeing & Inclusion, Report & Support and HPV Vaccine awareness there will be a number of our external stakeholders we work collaboratively with. These include, Edinburgh Nightline, Crew2000, Andy's Man Club, Edinburgh Crisis Centre. Come along to the Foyer by the Merchiston main entrance and have a chat/pick up some information.
There
will also be an opportunity to join in with some wellbeing sessions.
