Merchiston event recognises organisations we partner with to provide vital work experience and placement opportunities for our students

Full Story

Last week, University Principal Andrea Nolan, along with our Placements and Employability Teams, hosted an event at our Merchiston campus to recognise and celebrate the organisations we partner with to provide vital work experience and placement opportunities for our students.

The evening was one of thanks and celebration, and a chance to network with our students, staff and partners. Students and employers gave brief speeches, reflecting on the importance of placement for themselves, to more than 100 attendees.

The key note speech was delivered by Andy Door, Head of Procurement at Scottish Prison Services. Andy is an alumnus of Edinburgh Napier University (BA (Hons) Business Studies) and completed a placement with NCR Limited in London as an undergraduate. Andy was able to explain the advantage of placements for himself as an employer and showed just how rewarding placements are for students.

Guests were also treated to a new short film, “Work Placements: Transforming Futures”, produced by BA (Hons) Film students Corrine McAndrews and Molly Neill. The film highlights the work placements on offer across the University and some of the organisations with which we work.
