Edinburgh
Napier has retained our Cyber Essentials Plus certification, after undergoing
assessment over the last two weeks. The assessment
and management of the process by our Information Services colleagues were
carried out remotely due to current restrictions, but worked seamlessly.
Cyber Essentials is a UK
Government scheme which helps organisations protect themselves against the most
common types of cyber-attacks.
The Cyber
Essentials Plus certificate not only demonstrates that we:
- Have
secure internet connections, devices and software
- Control
access to your data and services
- Protect
from viruses and other malware
- Keep
our devices and software up to date
… but
also that Edinburgh Napier’s cyber security has been verified by independent
experts.
First
achieved in January 2019, Cyber Essentials Plus requires annual
recertification, so the standards achieved and confirmed by the external
assessor will need to be maintained, including any new additions to the scheme
over time.
This is
just one of several activities being carried out to ensure that the possibility
of disruption or damage caused by cyber security incidents is minimised and
that we fully comply with legislation such as GDPR.

information can be found on the Information Security
intranet pages.
