This
year, SQA and A-level results will both be published on Tuesday 10 August – and we’re looking for staff volunteers
to ensure we’re able to respond to the expected increased level of enquiries in
our Clearing operation.
Clearing
allows us to recruit students to places we still have available. For some of
our subject areas, this is essential to us meeting our targets. It also helps
us to recruit more high priority students such as those who qualify for a
Contextual Offer as part of our Widening Access initiatives, or are from the rest
of the UK or overseas.
We
need to be able to answer Clearing enquiries quickly and efficiently on results
day and the following days. To do this, we’re looking for colleagues from
across the University to support our Clearing Operations Centre between 10 and
13 August. Last year, many of you volunteered and those who did really enjoyed
the experience. This can involve a variety of roles including fielding
telephone calls, online enquiries and emails; assessing whether students meet
our entry criteria via easy to follow steps; and hopefully making offers to
students!
We
will be offering full training for volunteers ahead of time. This will include
a training manual as well as training course and opportunities to practice. In
addition to the training there will always be support available, so if at any
time you have questions there will be someone to help.
If
you are able to volunteer, please complete this short form.
We
have again secured the Younger Suite at Craiglockhart where the majority of
Clearing Operations will take place. The health and safety of all staff
involved in Clearing is critical and there will be a full risk assessment
completed along with appropriate processes and procedures in place to ensure
compliance with Covid-19 regulations.
Our
Clearing operation is being managed by Neil McGillivray, UK Student Recruitment
Manager. If you have any questions about Clearing, get in touch with Neil.
