Turnitin and GradeMark
Edinburgh Napier University has subscribed to Turnitin, a text-matching software service that is used to assess the originality of submitted coursework. Turnitin highlights matching text in Originality Reports and has proven helpful both for deterring plagiarism and for improving student's key referencing skills.
Turnitin is available as a Moodle plugin, and a Turnitin Assignment must be created by a module tutor in order for students to use it. There are a variety of submission options allows the tutor to control how students submit their coursework, as well as their access to the originality reports.
GradeMark is Turnitin’s mark-up system that allows the tutor to grade student papers online and to provide comments anywhere in the body of the paper.
