About Skype for Business


Skype for Business is a unified communication platform that enables instant messaging, audio and video conferencing, online meetings and sharing through a unified interface or one application.


It effectively enables staff members to:

  • Communicate with colleagues with ease, in real-time, without the need to be in the same office, campus or location
  • Add audio, video and collaboration to Instant Messenger conversations.
  • Join an online meeting, from anyplace or device – even via mobile phones.


Purchasing Equipment


In order to use Skype for Business to its full potential your department may wish to purchase headsets and webcams.  For further information about purchasing IT equipment visit the IT Procurement page.  


For Health and Safety reasons we advise against sharing headsets.  




There are various benefits as a collaboration/communication tool, some benefits include:
