I am Associate Professor in Curriculum Design, leading on the development and implementation of ENhance. I have particular interests in curriculum internationalisation and decolonisation; and in the evidencing, recognition and reward of teaching achievements in Higher Education. I am Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA).

Prior to joining Edinburgh Napier, I held senior Academic Development roles at the University of Newcastle, and spent several years as an independent consultant, working on educational development projects and programmes across the UK and beyond. I am external examiner for the SEDA Fellowships Scheme, and the University of Sheffield’s Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching.

I originally taught and published in the field of Literary Studies, and the monograph derived from my PhD, Holocaust Literature of the Second Generation, was published by Palgrave, New York (2007). More recently, I have run community writing workshops and projects.

I am also a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language, which I have taught both in the UK and abroad.
