I am Associate Professor of Learning & Teaching Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University.
I teach and supervise on the Department of Learning and Teaching’s Postgraduate Certificate in Learning Teaching and Academic Practice in Higher Education programme and the MSc in Blended and Online Education.
My current research and scholarship work focuses on widening access to university in national and international perspective; supporting student transitions; enhancing employability; and developing staff and student 'professional identities'.
I lead on a range of institutional initiatives in my specialist areas and I also provide input to department's broad programme of learning, teaching and pedagogic research/scholarship support across the University.
I lead on the University’s engagement with the QAA Enhancement Themes and, at sector level, am Deputy Chair of the current Evidence for Enhancement Theme.
My academic background is in the anthropology of education, with a focus on international policy and practice, and education in the context of civil war and political conflict and change.
Martha is Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
