The travel insurance document contains a Travel Cover Summary which should always be carried with you when travelling on University business. The emergency medical expenses cover will provide you with advice and assistance should you become ill or sustain injury during your journey.

An assistance service is operated by a team of multilingual coordinators at Intana Global in the UK, who can be contacted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on the following number: INTANA GLOBAL: Tel: +44 (0)20 7902 7405.

For non-emergency incidents, you should use a travel claim form.

In addition to emergency medical cover, every traveller has access to the Global Security Centre which provides security advice and support. A dedicated team of experienced security consultants provide assistance with any security and incident management situations that may arise. Contact details for using this service while travelling are: Tel: +44 (0)20 7939 8658, email gsc@travelsecurity.com

While the University has arranged extensive World coverage, risk must always be assessed prior to travel by filling in a Travel Risk Assesssment. To further support staff and students to mitigate the risks of operating in, and traveling to difficult and unfamiliar environments, the University also has access to the Control Risks Website. This includes an online service which provides advice and travel alerts for potential destinations, which should be used in conjunction with the FCO Website.

This dedicated website offers more destination details and advice on controlling operation risk, as well as the ability to set up email alerts for specific regions, countries or events. Please request a password from insurance@napier.ac.uk if you would like to use this. Another resource to support staff and students traveling to high or extreme risk environments is the online training module in Advanced Security offered by International SOS. This can be accessed by all staff and students through registering with their University email address on their website.
