While the University has arranged extensive World coverage, risk must always be assessed prior to travel by filling in a
Travel Risk Assessment. To further support staff and students to mitigate the risks of operating in, and traveling to difficult and unfamiliar environments, the University also has access to the Risk Monitor Traveller Website. This includes an
online service which provides advice and travel alerts for potential destinations, which should be used in conjunction with the
FCO Website. This dedicated website offers more destination details and advice on controlling operation risk, as well as the ability to set up email alerts for specific regions, countries or events. See the
Travel Cover Summary for details of how to access.
TravelPrepare is an expanded e-learning facility to assist both staff and students prior to travel. This resource supports staff and students traveling to high or extreme risk environments is the online training modules. These can be accessed by all staff and students by following the instructions in the
Travel Risk Assessment.

Motor Insurance (University and hire vehicles)
All UK hire vehicles must be registered on the insurer’s database. Please email
insurance@napier.ac.uk with the vehicle registration number and the hire dates and we will register the vehicle on your behalf.
The policy will automatically provide cover for UK hired vehicles if they are taken overseas. If a vehicle is hired overseas, insurance must be purchased from the car hire company.
For UK hire vehicles, the University car hire company will carry out the driving licence checks. For University vehicles, driving licences must be checked by the School/Department using the vehicle to ensure there are no points on the licence and that the driver has not been barred from driving. This check can be carried out either by logging on to the website below and sending through a PDF of the page of the ‘Vehicles you can drive’ page and the ‘Penalties and disqualifications page’ or by clicking the link in the ‘Share your licence information’ page and emailing the access code and the last 8 digits of the licence to
insurance@napier.ac.uk We will keep a record of the result.
