Industrial Action

We recognise both EIS and UNISON unions for the purpose of collective bargaining and negotiations regarding pay and associated terms and conditions for staff in Grades 1-7. Staff can also choose to be members of other unions and we are aware that a small number of staff are members of the University and College Union (UCU).

UNISON have now informed us they are asking members to participate in a further three days of strike action in relation to the outcome of the 2021-22 national pay negotiations:

2nd May

3rd May

4th May

As outlined in previous communications we believe that a fair and affordable pay award outcome was achieved in this year’s negotiations so the further strike action by UCU is disappointing, particularly due to the potential impact to our students; however the University fully respects the right of colleagues to take industrial action and accepts that such action is not taken lightly.

The University fully respects the right of colleagues to take industrial action and accepts that action is not taken lightly. Talks between national representatives are ongoing and, as a University, we will continue to urge all parties to reach a negotiated solution.

We have created this industrial action intranet page to provide information for managers and colleagues about the 2021-22 pay round dispute.
