Half Day Sickness Absence Process
The ability to record half day sickness absence as per our Sickness Absence policy is now available in HR Connect. So from immediate effect all half days sickness absence should be recorded.
A half day absence should be recorded if less than half or more of the normal contracted hours for that day have been worked. A half day absence is recorded as half of the employee’s contracted hours for the day, so if the employee works part time, the half day is based on what they were expected to work on the day and not full time equivalent hours.
The principle of recording sickness absence remains the same - with the manager or sickness contact being advised of the employee being unwell and creating the record. The employee then confirms/updates their record on their return to work. If you are not sure of who to contact in case of illness you can clarify this with your manager.
There is a small change to the way a new record is created - it now works in the same style as annual leave recording.
Fit note recording remains unaffected - this should be added to HR Connect by the manager/sickness contact before forwarding to Payroll.
