Sickness Absence Recording

The roll out of online sickness absence reporting through HR Connect has now been completed to all Faculties and Departments and replaces the existing network of monthly reports sent into Payroll.

 

Managers or Sickness Absence Administrators will now record sickness for their staff as soon as the sickness absence is reported. The member of staff will then be required to close the absence on their return to work. There will no longer be a need to provide paper self certifictates for absence of up to seven calendar days.

 

Notification emails will be sent for key sickness types, and at key dates during medium or long term sickness absence. These will serve as reminders for the requirement to produce medical certificates (fit notes) and referral to our Occupational Health service.

 

Doctor's fit notes must be supplied by the employee where the absence is eight calendar days or over and must be recorded on HR Connect my the manager, before being sent to payroll.
