Above and Beyond Awards 2016-17
The first Above and Beyond Awards and Recognition Evening was held on Thursday 16 March 2017 and based on feedback from the night, the consensus was that the evening was a resounding success. LRC5 was transformed beyond belief into a glamorous awards themed venue and guests were treated to a red carpet, paparazzi arrival with drinks and canapes, followed by a specially prepared evening meal.
The event was hosted by Brian Webster-Henderson, with a section on recognising individuals with 25 years' service which included special recognition for Liz Raynes for her amazing 45 years' service to the University. Individuals who had been promoted as well as special mention for Hazel Hall for her fellowship to the Royal Society of Edinburgh Fellowship. The following winners of each of the Above and Beyond awards were announced during the evening:

Andrew Wooff, Lecturer, School of Applied Sciences
· Inclusive Award
Nick Fannin, Head of Bright Red Triangle
· Red Box Award
James Mann, Central Support Assistant - Technician, Information Services
· Partnership Award
Tony Westbury, Russell Martindale and Cedric English, Lecturers, School of Applied Sciences
Each winner was presented with an award, specifically designed for the event by David Euan Bowen, a third year Product Design student from the School of Arts and Creative Industries.
The event ended with the attendees dancing the night away to the great guest band 'Superhouse' and talking about how they could again secure a ticket to next year's event.
