Family Friendly Policy Summary

 

Maternity Leave

Having a baby is widely regarded as one of the happiest times of your life, but it involves some significant changes to you and your personal circumstances. This policy provides you and your manager with information about the University's maternity provisions, your statutory entitlements and your obligations during this exciting time. 

 

This policy takes into account changes in legislation effective from 1 April 2015 which includes entitlment to take shared parental leave.

Paternity Leave

This policy explains the provisions available to employees of the University to take paid leave to care for their new baby. It is open to fathers, adoptive fathers and people in same sex relationships providing the qualifying criteria are met. If you are eligible please discuss dates with your line manager and send a completed  Special Leave Form along with a copy of your partners MATB1 form to Payroll.

Unpaid Parental Leave

This guidance describes the right of eligible staff, who have one year's qualifying service to take a period of unpaid leave to care for each child born or adopted on or after the 15 December 1994.
