Casual Staff & External Examiners

You must ensure that External Examiners meet UK Immigration Legislation requirements. The proposed process for checking documentation at Edinburgh Napier University is that:
a) During their application the external examiner e-mails the school/ service a copy of the evidence of their eligibility to work.
b) The copy is appended to the signed application form sent to Human Resources where it is retained on the external examiners personnel file.
c) The appointment letter sent to the external examiner acknowledges receipt of the copy and explains that the original documentation must be presented the first time they attend the University.
d) On presentation of the original documentation a copy is taken and signed to confirm that it corresponds with the person submitting it.
e) This signed copy is sent to Human Resources who update the personnel file with the signed copy.
f) update the central database to reflect an authenticated copy of documentation confirming the right to work in the UK has been sent.
