Skyping in from America – Milton Glaser uses tech to reach our students

In March this year the University hosted a special lecture as part of the Chancellor Talk Series with renowned graphic designer and artist Milton Glaser.

Milton Glaser is most famous for the I Love New York logo he conceived in the 1970s and recently delivered the inaugural Chancellor’s Talk at Edinburgh Napier University.

Information Services were integral to the planning and preparations behind the successful delivery of this lecture.  Our Craiglockhart Campus Support Team worked closely with an external film production company to record Milton as he joined us from New York via Skype to an audience of 200 in the Lindsay Stewart Lecture Theatre.

Weeks of preparation went into ensuring that all the technical aspects including the use of our recording equipment, mics, speakers, projector, networks and Skype upgrades were tested, retested and working efficiently.

Special thanks must go to John Fairley and Billy Dickson for all their hard work and last minute trouble shooting to ensure that this special lecture ran without a glitch.
