Student ID Cards
To offer an improved, consistent service to students and to make more efficient use of iPoint resource, the University outsourced its student card production for the first time this academic year, a project managed by Information Services.
From the start of 2017/18, all student cards were printed and distributed by an external card bureau service provided by Burall Infosmart.
The new service prints, encodes, and posts all cards direct to each student’s term time address within 5 days of receipt of the data from the University.
Data is released daily for print for those students who have matriculated and supplied a photograph.
To support this process, a Photo Manager application was developed to allow students to submit their photograph online and preview their student card prior to printing, and the new student Next Steps page was amended so that photo upload is an integral part of the student Matriculation and Induction experience:
In addition, to offer students an alternative method of accessing University resources whilst their card is processed, an electronic version of the card is also available via the new iNapier app.
