Visitor Access to Library Buildings
Members of the public /community may have free reference access to our print collections and study space for their own educational purposes. Please visit our External Members and Visitors webpage for more details.
External Members must apply for
Library Membership, and be issued with a library card for the duration of their membership.
Access is available during the University’s unrestricted hours. On arrival, visitors should sign the Visitors’ Book at the iPoint.
Visitors who have a registered external membership will be able to gain admission to the Library during restricted access times on production of the appropriate card i.e. an External Member’s Library Card, a SCONUL acceptance email and matriculation card from their home institution or an Edinburgh Library Passport.
During restricted opening times, admission to the buildings may be gained by using the intercom system at the main entrance at Craiglockhart, Sighthill, and Merchiston buildings, or by phoning Security on 0131 455 6119.
