Write & Publish
"If you want to make an impact among your colleagues, look especially at the journals that they're reading and publishing in."
- H. Goldman, Chief Editor of 'Polar Research'

Sharing ideas is at the heart of scholarship. After all, when you have spent so much time gathering and analysing your data you will want your findings to reach as large an audience as possible. Guide to Writing and Publishing
Writing for publication is not a skill that comes automatically, likewise with knowledge about the ins and outs of the publishing process. Be sure to make the most of our training opportunities so that you keep up to date with developments in scholarly communications.

Edinburgh Napier University supports Open Access through our institutional repository. For activities such as the Research Excellence Framework for example, Open Access is a vital component. By depositing in the repository you also ensure that your work has a citation advantage and reaches a large audience. Whenever you decide to publish, make sure you protect yourself by understanding your rights and responsibilities under copyright law. Writing and publishing journal articles, conference papers and reviews are all excellent ways to grow and strengthen your research and make an impact.

ORCID - Don't forget to make sure you have an ORCID, a persistent digital identifier that will distiguish you from other researchers. Meaning your research will be recognised and credited to you regardless of your name (which may not be unique, or may be entered in different ways) or institution. Sign up now.
