Examinations

At Edinburgh Napier University exams are scheduled in a hybrid model involving both on campus and online exams. The assumption will be that Exams will be delivered online via the Exam Server, however, there may be some exceptions to this, for example due to Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) requirements or other compelling academic reason.

If by exception you wish to request an on-campus exam, please provide a rationale and/or any PSRB evidence to your School Head of Learning & Teaching, who will consider the request at school level before making a recommendation to Vice Principal of Learning & Teaching (Professor Nazira Karodia) and the Academic Registrar (Dr Steven Logie). Opportunities to make these requests are time bound and the relevant dates by which these requests should be made will be communicated to SHoLTS prior to each Exam Diet.

Paperwork for staff

The University has updated the standard template for exams and the front cover sheet.

You can find the new exam and front cover sheet templates, plus guidance on how to use them, here. Log on to Moodle Community using your regular staff ID credentials. If you have not visited the “I’m In” course before, click the ‘Enrol Me’ button. More information about I’m In can be found here.

In order for exams to run successfully for all students, we require the following documents and information to be collected and submitted to your School Office:

Exam Question Paper – these should be produced using the updated template, with all questions and pages numbered.

Exam Question front cover sheet – the updated cover sheet applies for all exams.  Please note that there are 2 versions of the front cover – online exams front cover and on campus front cover. The information on the front cover is particularly important as it provides students with essential instructions on completing their exam. The front cover must also be typed in Arial 12 font.

Requisition Form – Requisition Forms are only required for on campus exams and should be submitted with the Exam Question Paper. The Requisition Form is guidance for the Invigilator on how to conduct the exam.

FAQs regarding online exams can be found here.
